What we pledge to do

Teaching is delivered by a fully qualified (level 7) Dyscalculia & Dyslexia Specialist Teacher / Assessor.

The specialist teacher will liaise directly with your child’s school so they can contribute to the process. This may include observing your child in their maths or English lesson at school.  Feedback on your child’s progress will be provided to the school who will liaise with parents / carers to enable a joined up approach.

Where teaching takes place at your child’s school all school policies will be followed.

Where your child attends our tuition centre we will provide a safe and positive environment.

This service is offered on the understanding that:

Reserving a place

A deposit of two weeks tuition fees is required to secure your child’s place. This place is reserved for your child on a mutually convenient day and time. Once a child is offered a place in a session, this place is regarded as current until you give two weeks’ notice (or fee in lieu) advising us in writing that you either, want them to stop attending or you wish to change the lesson day/time. Changing lesson day/time is subject to vacancies.  NOTE: This includes at the end of terms and school year, so your child is guaranteed their place until it is cancelled.  Likewise, if we are unable to continue with specialist teaching we will give you a minimum of two-weeks notice.

Termination of enrolment

If your child does not arrive for 2 successive sessions without you informing us of their expected absence or paying for the sessions then we reserve the right to accept that as termination of their enrolment and may offer that place to another student. The deposit may be held to in lieu of the notice not formally received and the missed lessons charged for.

Illness / Missed Lessons

To be successful and ensure a lasting improvement it is essential that students attend every lesson.  However, if a child is ill then not only will they not get the most out of their lesson but they may pass bugs onto others.  Fees are due in advance for all lessons whether or not they are attended.  When a child is unable to attend due to illness then where possible they can be offered a catch-up.  This could be either at their school if that’s where they received their lessons or at the Southampton Tuition Centre.  These catch-ups can only be offered when the teacher is available so options can be limited.  No fees are refundable for non-attended lessons whatever the reason, nor future credits as the teacher was available to teach the lesson at the agreed time.

Prices

Price is dependent upon the service required which is very personalised.  It will be agreed on registration and then increased by £1 per hour annually on 1st September, pro-rata for half or three-quarter hour sessions.

Payment Arrangements

The fee is charged per child, per session depending upon the service enrolled for. You can opt to pay at the beginning of each month or per term. All payments must be made before your child’s session. If your account is in arrears we reserve the right not to teach your child and to terminate their enrolment.

Please ensure that payments via your bank quote your child’s name and their reference number.

Missed lessons must be paid for. Your child is booked in for a set lesson time, because that place is reserved for them, we cannot put anyone else in their time slot. Therefore, you are required to pay for the lesson whether your child attends or not. This is a condition of enrolment. Late payment of any lesson will incur an administration charge.

If you have not paid in advance, then the missed lesson payment must be made before the next session that your child attends.

General Arrangements

Other professionals such as the student’s school maybe contacted to provide background information together with historic and current attainment levels.

Parents or other adults are not permitted to watch or be present during lessons (unless prior arrangements have been made), as this may cause unnecessary stress to the child.

Data is kept electronically.  Only the data needed to complete the assessment and/or tuition is kept.  Data will not be passed onto third parties without express written instructions and will be destroyed within 6 months of no longer being a client of Southampton Tuition Centre.

Feedback on your child’s progress will be provided via the school.  Should you need to meet directly an appointment can be arranged via Mrs Crawley.
